Selective demolition is about restraint. A new stair void through a suspended slab, a lift shaft cut through three floors, an opening in a shear wall for a link bridge: each one is a structural modification where taking out too much, or shaking the structure too hard, is a serious problem.
A demolition robot gives the operator control that a jackhammer crew doesn’t have. The breaker or crusher works to a marked line, reinforcement is exposed and cut deliberately rather than torn, and vibration to the surrounding structure is a fraction of what an excavator hammer would impart. In hospitals, data centres, schools and retail buildings that difference is the difference between the job going ahead and not.

The operator works to the engineer’s marked line and can remove concrete in small, deliberate bites. Where a clean edge is needed we combine robotic breaking with saw-cutting: cut the line, then break out the panel behind it.
Robotic breaking with a light, controlled breaker or a crusher imparts far less vibration than an excavator-mounted hammer. On sensitive sites we can monitor vibration and adjust the attachment or sequence to stay within the limit.
Yes. In occupied buildings we often work nights and weekends, and the machine can be tracked out of the space at the end of each shift so the area is clean and clear for the building’s users.
That’s the engineer’s call, and we work to their temporary works design. The robot’s small footprint and controlled removal often reduce the extent of propping needed compared with heavier methods.
